Get ready for an exciting twist in the 2025 NLCS as the Los Angeles Dodgers prepare to shake up their postseason roster! The big question on everyone's mind: Will they add an extra pitcher?
The Dodgers are set to face the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series, and manager Dave Roberts has hinted at a potential roster change. With a longer series ahead, Roberts believes pitching will be crucial.
"The seven-game series format changes the game plan," Roberts explained. "It's a delicate balance between having enough pitching depth and maintaining a strong bench presence."
So, who might be the lucky pitcher to join the squad? Edgardo Henriquez seems like a strong contender. He was initially on the team's roster for the Wild Card round but was dropped for the NLDS.
However, adding Henriquez could mean saying goodbye to a bench player like Justin Dean, Hyeseong Kim, or Dalton Rushing. Dean, known for his exceptional glove and speed, has been a defensive replacement in all six playoff games so far and even pinch-ran in the team's NLDS victory.
Kim, on the other hand, has only made one appearance, scoring the winning run in Game 4 of the NLDS.
But here's where it gets controversial... If the Dodgers decide to keep both Dean and Kim, they might opt to drop one of their backup catchers, Ben Rortvedt or Dalton Rushing, to make room for an extra pitcher.
With Will Smith back in the lineup, the Dodgers might feel they no longer need three catchers. Rushing, who hasn't appeared in any playoff games yet, could be the odd man out.
And this is the part most people miss... The Dodgers' decision could spark a debate among fans. Should they prioritize pitching depth or maintain a versatile bench?
What do you think? Will the Dodgers go for the extra pitcher, or will they stick with their current roster? Let us know in the comments!
