ICEA LION's Go-Green Campaign: Planting Trees and Financial Literacy at Peace High School (2025)

Peace High School's Green Revolution: A Step Towards a Sustainable Future

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | In a world where market trends are constantly shifting, schools are now embracing innovative approaches to prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century. One such approach is equipping them with the skills and knowledge to navigate the complex realms of financial management and sustainability.

ICEA LION, a leading insurance provider, has embarked on a long-term mission to support the education sector in this endeavor. On November 6, 2025, they took their commitment a step further by visiting Peace High School, where they planted 80 fruit trees on the school grounds and 220 trees on the school farm. But that's not all; they also conducted an engaging financial literacy session for the students.

This initiative is a testament to ICEA LION's Go-Green Campaign, which aims to create a sustainable and financially savvy future for Uganda's youth. The campaign's broader goal is to plant 2,400 trees across selected schools in Uganda, with each tree-planting event accompanied by financial literacy workshops.

So far, the campaign has already made a significant impact. St. Mark's College Namagoma, City High School, Mother Kevin Primary School, Padre Pio Primary School, and Exodus College in Wakiso District have collectively received 1,005 trees. During the event, Moses Mugalu, Communication and Marketing Lead at ICEA LION, shared his vision: "We're confident that with these seedlings, you'll nurture them to become the clean, green, and sustainable future we all aspire to."

But that's not the only surprise. Peace High School also received eight water purifiers from Spouts of Water, an organization collaborating with the Ministry of Water and Environment, the World Health Organization (WHO), and independent laboratories. These ceramic water filters are designed to eliminate the need for electricity, charcoal, or firewood, thereby reducing household expenses and environmental impact. Spouts of Water plans to continue this initiative in various schools as part of their partnership with ICEA LION.

As the Go-Green Campaign expands to more schools, ICEA LION remains steadfast in its commitment to planting 2,400 trees by the end of the year. Their mission is to foster an environmentally conscious and financially literate generation, ensuring a greener and more financially savvy Uganda.

"Through the Go-Green campaign, we're not just contributing to a greener Uganda but also nurturing a financially responsible and sustainable future," the company's statement read. This initiative is a powerful example of how businesses can actively contribute to the well-being of the community and the environment, leaving a lasting positive impact on the next generation.
