The world of cycling has a new hotspot, and it's not where you'd expect! According to Strava's recent data, the most-ridden cycling segment in 2025 is in the vibrant city of Bogotá, Colombia. But here's the twist: it's not a famous Alpine pass or a picturesque European route.
Strava's Data Reveals a Surprising Favorite
The segment, named 'Mi Segmento: de la redomita a Patios', is a 5.5km climb on the outskirts of Bogotá, known locally as the Alto de Patios. This climb has seen over 34,000 unique riders in just 11 months, attracting 102 new riders each day! The current King of the Mountain (KOM) title belongs to Julio Ispache, a Guatemalan pro, who conquered the climb in an impressive 13 minutes and 37 seconds, averaging 22.8kph.
And this is the part most people miss: Colombia's cycling hero, Egan Bernal, almost claimed the KOM earlier this year. He fell just one second short on the longer official segment, 'Belisario-Patios'.
Strava's data also highlights a 1.49km riverside stretch in São Paulo, Brazil, as the second most popular segment, ridden by over 26,000 users. The third spot goes to a segment in London, UK, simply named 'Bridge Sprint', located on the busy Wandsworth Bridge.
A Global Cycling Community
Strava's exercise-sharing platform has grown significantly since its launch in 2009, now boasting 180 million users worldwide. The 'Year in Sport' data, covering September 2024 to August 2025, offers fascinating insights. While running takes the lead, cycling enthusiasts will find intriguing details. For instance, Trek is the most popular road bike brand among Strava users, with Specialized and Giant following closely.
Interestingly, when it comes to gravel and mountain bikes, Specialized takes the top spot, with Trek moving down a position. This shift highlights the diverse preferences within the cycling community.
As of December 8th, Strava subscribers will receive personalized 'Year in Sport' reports, offering a unique look at their own cycling achievements.
